A couple of weekends ago was the Tatton Yule Yomp in Knutsford, Cheshire. I came up from London to make my regular appearance at the race, to either maintain or improve my standing.
This 10k trail running race is typically the last one of the year for me, and symbolises the start of my festive season. I did a recce of part of the route on the Saturday before many drams of liquid carbs in the pub (it is the party season after all!)
It snowed over he weekend but the snow let up for the race itself. About 1200 runners crossed the start line, and I started a bit too far back so lost some time zigzagging to find my own space. The ground had hardened overnight and I enjoyed overtaking runners, picking them off one by one until the field thinned out.
As always it was a great race, and I finished higher up the rankings than previous years. I’m still running every day, which I intend to keep going till 2018.
I foresee a bit of weight management will be required in January, which I’ll probably achieve through getting back on my turbo trainer, which will also get me cycling fit once more.
Until then, enjoy the festive break and keep your eyes set on your next sporting goal!
Keep on running
