The clouds started to disperse in the early afternoon as we came off Snowdon. Walking down the Miner’s track we still had a good half hour ahead of us but the views were exceptional. Note my follow expedition member on the left with a Mountain Hardwear BMG 105 rucksack. He was carrying a 28 kilo load and wearing La Sportiva Olympus Mons with vapour barrier socks. I bet he was glad to be on the flat home stretch!

As we descended the summit, beyond snow and hail, the skies started to clear. Trudging on flat ground I looked back and saw Snowdon’s summit from a distance for the first time that day. The couple of walkers in the bottom right add perspective to the scale of Wales’ highest peak.
