In the last few weeks of training for the Race Across America, my life seems to be a blur, with a few small rewards in terms of food. This is an average working day…

  • 0600 hrs: Wake.
  • Commute.
  • Work. Emails.
  • Turbo train, 1 hour. No time left to hold back. Push hard. Energy gel at 0, 20 and 40 minutes.
  • Protein shake.
  • Work. Conference calls.
  • Turbo train, 1 hour on the hill climbing block. Real slow cadence to mimic steep ascent. One energy gel. Focus on perfect form. One arm drills.
  • Protein shake.
  • Work. Conference calls. Small pizza whilst on the phone.
  • Turbo train, 1 hour hill climbing again, this time pushing intervals well above my Functional Threshold. One energy gel. Make every interval hard.
  • Protein shake.
  • Commute.
  • Steak and a glass of red wine.
Study RAAM rules. Finalise personal logistics.
  • 2330hrs: Sleep.
  • Tomorrow… Repeat.

Stay motivated!
