North High Camp, Elbrus, Russia, Friday 19 August 2016:

Today we went on an acclimatisation walk up to Lenz Rocks. As three rope teams, we made good speed. One rope team had to stop short due to one climber having issues, though the other two rope teams made it above Lenz Rocks to 4800 metres, where we encountered cold and wind.

On the ascent my right leg went into a crevasse to my thigh, but I pulled my leg out without any real issues.

The views on the way down were spectacular, looking south across the Caucasus range towards Georgia.

30 hours till summit attempt…

Keep going
