Since my last race I have been consolidating my plans for next year. The big ticket items are the Paris Marathon, Nice Ironman and most recently organised, l’etape du tour – that famous annual road race taking in a day’s route of the Tour de France, with rolling road closures and big hills. Yes, coincidentally all are in France. I’ll be getting my first time trial bike, but more on that later once I collect it.

I need to get my training plan nailed, but for a change of pace and since time is permitting, I’m going to focus on a bit more rock climbing, which friends swear helps them stay injury-free when training for endurance events. I’m at Manchester Airport bound for Malaysia, then on to Krabi in Thailand, well-known for deep water soloing. I’ve packed my rock shoes and my waterproof camera so hopefully I’ll get some good photos whilst I’m out there.

Right, I should think about boarding this flight.

Ciao!
