It’s been a brilliant weekend as far a Denali preparation has gone! I have searched the UK for suitable boots. La Sportiva Olympus Mons don’t do boots in my size, the Boreal G1 Lites I purchased were too narrow around the toes, the staff at Cotswolds were trying to sell me Scarpa Vega HA boots a size too small and then finally… Adventure Peaks in Ambleside came up with the goods- a pair of Millet Everest boots in UK 13.5.
The boots have a wide fit, lace up relatively easily and are lightweight at 2.5kg for the pair. Whilst at Adventure Peaks they also kitted me out with other bits and bobs and were full of useful advice. I’d highly recommend calling them up for advice if you want advice on kit for an expedition.
Below are a Marmot windshirt and lightweight waterproof purchased from Adventure Peaks:
The rest of the kit for the expedition should be on the way from Peglers next week. It’s a rather exciting time; I need to remember to put in the hard graft now I’ve got all the kit! One of the items that I am really looking forward to receiving is a sleeping bag by a brand called Tundra. It’s packed with 1.2 kilos of ethically sourced down and is rated to -40c. I don’t know anyone else who has this so hope it’s all it is cracked up to be 🙂
I’m one happy camper!
