Here we go again. I’m in my first of two cabs to the airport, to catch the first of three flights to reach Mendoza, Argentina. Final destination: the summit of Aconcagua, highest peak in the southern and western hemispheres.

I found myself in Covent Garden yesterday, manically touring all the outdoor shops to buy last minute gear. I know it’s all psychological; I was beyond the point of being able to train so the only advantage I could gain was with better kit. An expensive retail therapy experience!

Looking back on 2014 so far, my biggest challenge was definitely Ironman Nice. Since then I’ve just had to top up my fitness and adapt it back to hill training in readiness for Aconcagua.

Do I feel ready? As best as possible right now- I just need to get my head in the game and focus on whatever the mountain throws at us in the next few weeks. Stay tuned for updates, where possible.

Keep climbing
